Repurposing Food Waste

striving for a zero waste food system since 2002

At Midwest Dairy Recycling we work towards a zero waste food system by diverting excess dairy products and rebalancing them into high quality feed for livestock, contributing to a circular and efficient food system.

Our Process

Repurposing Dairy Products

Bottling companies or grocery stores get rid of food that’s about to expire, but it’s still perfectly safe for animals to consume. We collect this excess product, otherwise headed for landfills.

Recycling Plastic

Milk and other products arrive at our facilities where we separate the milk from their plastic containers, sending the milk to be rebalanced into animal feed and the plastic to recycling centers. Solid foods we can’t use go to digesters to be composted.

Feeding Animals

The milk products are rebalanced into quality feed for infant animals and sent to our partner farms to be fed to livestock, completing the circular food system.

Looking to get rid of milk or food?

We can take anything. Zero landfill. Zero waste.
